(10 months) We had a string of bright temperate days after our leaves had started to accumulate in our yard. I decided that it was time for Emily to be introduced to the fun of playing in the leaves. She was so satisfied to just sit in the leaves and touch them. She had found so many treasures to look at, touch, and sometimes taste. These days are such simple days of joy for us! Next year I will rake the leaves into a pile and let her jump into them. I might even join her.

(10 months) We have had a few rough days with Emily not feeling well. We couldn’t tell if she had a cold or was teething and were beginning to worry that it was a cold. On Saturday it reached a climax and our normally happy baby girl was anything but happy. She just cried for no reason. By the time we went to some friends to watch the UT football game she was doing better. Emily is putting everything into her mouth now, so when I went fishing to pull out the little string that Emily put in her mouth I found a tooth instead. The first tooth is her lower left front tooth. The tooth has been pretty interesting to Emily. She keeps feeling it with both her tongue and her finger. We have new funny faces to chuckle at as she plays with her new tooth.

Emily visited San Francisco. (So did Mommy and Daddy.) She had fun seeing the sights around town. She liked watching the sea lions at Pier 39. She even got to ride the famous cable cars twice. She was very good for us on the plane flights, and got many compliments from our fellow passengers.

We drove down Lombard Street, then parked the car and I waited as Emily and Rachelle hiked partway up the street so I could take a photo of them.

(10 months) Emily has celebrated her first Thanksgiving! We spent the afternoon and evening playing at Grammy and Granddaddy’s house. She sat with the big people at the table and ate the big people’s sweet potatoes, white potatoes, dressing, and cherry jello. Then after her nap she joined the big people again at the table and enjoyed eating Mommy’s pumpkin pie with whipped cream topping. Yum! That is how you are to enjoy Thanksgiving – with family eating good food.

But not for long, it seems. Rachelle and I think that Emily is starting to teeth. She’s been uncharacteristically fussy, and has been waking up at night; though there is no sign of teeth, yet.
