Emily is pleased to announce that she will become a big sister this October. Actually, she has no idea what is coming, but I think she will adjust to the change just fine. Emily is quite independent and enjoys playing by herself. We have started practicing ‘gentle’ with her so that she can have a head start on the idea.

Emily loves the feeling of wind on her face. We spent a little while at the park and she loved the freedom of walking anywhere she wanted, but swinging is what she really loved.

Emily enjoyed her first Easter egg hunt! At first she was uncertian about walking on the grass to get the eggs. Then when she had an egg in each hand she wasn’t sure what to do next. She offered eggs to Grammy to hold for her until she discovered the usefulness of the basket. She filled the basket and then she promptly dumped the basket back on the ground. Other than the day being cold it was a perfect way to spend Easter!

We just had our first real snow of the year at our house. As with local snow tradition, the snow will have completely melted by the time Robby comes home from work. I waited until the sun came out from behind the snow clouds and went out with Emily to see the snow. She looked around a lot. I sat her in the snow so that she could touch it. Every time she tried to pickup the snow she grabbed the grass and dirt. After a few minutes I picked her up and we tried to catch the snowflakes. They were hard to catch because they were small and the wind was blowing them in different directions. We had a good time!

(13 months) Emily is playing in her new big girl tub. We introduced her tub to her in the living room the night before and she just climbed in and out for an hour. She was excited to see it the next morning for her bath. She has never minded having a bath, but she does enjoy the extra space.

I took Emily back to the doctor for her check-up with the doctor. She had gained almost one pound and had grown 1/4 of an inch in the month. He was pleased with her progress and doesn’t have to return until her 15 month checkup. You can tell that she is heavier because her tummy is pouched out and she has grown dimples again. I guess those will last until she stretches them out again.

Emily started walking right around her birthday. She’s gotten pretty confident in her abilities in a short time.
